catcher in the rye- chapter12

In chapter twelve Holden is depressed in New York. He is depressed, basically, everywhere he goes. He asks the cab driver, Horwitz, about where the ducks go when the pond freezes again. Horwitz doesn't know so he begins talking about the fish. Holden goes to Ernie's and during his time there he runs into he brother's ex-girlfriend, Lillian Simmons. When Lillian asks Holden to come sit with her date and her, but Holden sais he must leave. This can kind of be another example of how Holden talks of himself like he is so mature, but when it comes to sealing the deal he backs down.
