catcher in the rye- chapter 13

Holden asks a pimp to send a prostitute to his room. When she arrives and wants to get busy Holden backs down. He lied saying " i am recuperating from an operation in my spinal canal." In his mind he was too depressed to do it. I think this is another example of Holden not being as mature as he sais he is.
