catcher in the rye- chapter 20

Holden sees a girl named Valencia at a night club. He wants to talk with her, but he never gets the chance to. He calls Sally Hayes, while he is drunk, and she just tells him to go home. The piano player in the club sais the same. Before going home, however, Holden goes to Madison Avenue and down to the lagoon. Holden, once again, mentions "where do the ducks go when the pond freezes?" Holden is obviously deeply interested in the matter.
