catcher in the rye- chapter 9

Holden goes to the Edmonton Hotel in New York. He takes a cab there and on the way he asks the cab driver about where the ducks go when the pond freezes over. This is something that Holden is obviously very interested in. Holden thinks the hotel is strange. "the hotel was lousy with perverts and morons." Holden also kind of contradicts himself in this chapter. Saying; "i'm probably the biggest sex maniac you ever saw." and "Sex is something I just don't understand." Holden uses another alias in this chapter when he is talking to Faith Cavendish. His purpose of calling her, at a very late hour, was that his friend had told him about her and that she was up for a "sexual" time every once in a while. She sais that she can't meet him tonight and offers to see him the next day, but Holden sais that he can only do it this one night. He regrets saying that almost immediately after saying it.
